Captain Jimi came to Key West from Missoula, Montana where he attended college. During his college, career he formed an intense love affair with fly fishing that turned into a way of life for him. Soon after becoming interested in fly fishing as a profession, Jimi began working for Headwaters Angling. This was in 1983 and it was his first real guide job. Thanks to his hard work and entertaining personality he quickly became one of the best guides in the area. He was one of the few guides that were able to capture respect of both fellow guides/Captains and anglers that he has fished with in the waters of Montana.

When Jimi came to Key West it was to stalk Tarpon. Of course, he had no idea how intense his interest in Tarpon would become. It was this interest, which would have him moving to Key West to pursue a career as a flats fishing guide.

Captain Jimi became a Key West fishing charter Captain in 1995. By this time, Jimi already had his Captain’s License through the U.S. Coast Guard. Jimi also had an Outfitter’s license, which offers a testament to his well-rounded fishing style. Captain Jimi is still often found stalking the magnificent Key West Tarpon in addition to the abundant supply of Bonefish and Permit.

Looking for the best of both worlds, Captain Jimi is often found spending summers in the Montana area, where he fly fishes for trout and winters in Key West where Permit, Bonefish, and Tarpon are the fish he prefers the most.
