KEY WEST FISHING REPORT - March 26th 2010

Now that the gorgeous spring weather has finally arrived down here in Key West, Florida, the angling has been steadily heating up as well. Whether you want to hit the channels in the harbor for some trophy Tarpon, venture to the reef or local wrecks for some light tackle angling, go to the salt-flats to hunt for sharks, or head off shore to chase some pelagic species, we have a charter for you.

On our charter boat, the Coolwater, Capt. Tony has seen plenty of success shark fishing in the flats, where his clients have hauled in Lemon sharks and Nurse Sharks weighing up to three hundred pounds.

Capt. Bill of our charter boat, the Outcast, took a party out to a wreck to bag their limit of Yellowtail Snappers. One lucky client also used a live Blue Runner to catch an 82-pound Amberjack.

This time of year is a popular time to fish for prize Tarpon. Today, I ventured into the harbor on the Coolcast with an enthusiastic group who pulled in three big Tarpon, ranging up to 125 pounds. The Permit has also started to bite.

Don't forget, the Sailfish migration past the Keys really heats up in April every year.

Good anglin',

Captain Chris Garcia
