KEY WEST FISHING REPORT - May 11th 2010

This is one of the best times of year to visit us in the Florida Keys and book a fishing charter; some of the best fish species are extremely active this time of year. Out at the color change, where the Gulf Stream has been flowing close to the islands, both Sailfish and Mahi Mahi are in peak season. Don't you're your opportunity to catch one of these fighting pelagics with one of our savvy captains. We've caught some larger Mahi in the past few weeks.

If you prefer some light tackle action, this is also a great time of year to fish for both Permit as well as Tarpon inshore. The Permit have been spawning at the shallow-water reefs and wrecks in the area. We've had some nice success fishing for these silvery fish with green peelers. The large Tarpon will settle into the deeper channels of Key West Harbor as the tide comes in. If you've never been Tarpon angling, this is the time of year to join us to catch a 120-pound trophy.

Good anglin',

Capt. Damon Santelli
