KEY WEST FISHING REPORT - May 21st 2010
This is the prime time to head down to Key West to join us for a fantastic charter; both the off shore and inshore fishing is excellent this time of year. Our captains continue to guide anglers to plenty of bent-rod action in Key West Harbor fishing for fighting Tarpon.
On the Atlantic side of Key West in the deeper waters, our charters have experienced some great success at various depths. Out at the Wall where the depth drops from one thousand to two thousand feet, we've been nabbing plenty of large Mahi Mahi. In seven hundred feet of water, our captains have guided clients to catch Blue Marlin, which like to hunt the smaller schoolie-sized Mahi. In one hundred and forty feet of water, we've caught ample Blackfins.
On Thursday, Dan Smith skippered the Coolcast north to hunt for Blackfin Tuna behind shrimp trawlers in the Gulf of Mexico. After catching ten Blackfins, Dan headed over to a wreck where the group caught ample Pompano. Using cut bait, his anglers managed to catch and release two 300-pound Tiger Sharks.
Good anglin',
Captain Chris Garcia
