KEY WEST FISHING REPORT - June 1st 2010

The fishing continues to run well out at the reef where the Mutton Snapper spawn is in full effect. As a result, our captains have been leading successful light tackle charters to the Atlantic side of Key West every afternoon, departing at three and returning after nightfall around nine. Our clients have been landing between ten to thirty Mutton Snapper per trip. If you are not familiar with Mutton Snapper, you should know that they are great fighting fish that are delicious. Just last night, our own Captain Dan Smith guided the Outcast to the reef to catch ten of these fighting fish. On Sunday evening, Captain Damon Santelli's party nabbed twenty one of these tasty fish on our vessel, the Coolcast. During the daytime, the Yellowtail Snapper have been prevalent at the shallow areas of the reef.

The Tarpon have been going ballistic lately; on just a four hour excursion in the Key West Harbor, Captain Bill Wallace's charter group reeled in five of eight of these feisty game fish on the Coolwater.

Offshore, we continue to catch Dolphin Fish and some Blackfin Tuna. During a one day Dolphin Tournament this past Saturday, the top prize went to an angler who nabbed a sixty-one pound bull.

Good anglin',

Capt. Chris Garcia
