Mahi Mahi
Beautiful calm and sunny weather here in Key West has led to some great fishing. Offshore has been loaded with Mahi Mahi of all sizes. I saw one hit the scale the other day at 58 lbs. Running and gunning looking for birds or weed lines has been the way to go.
Tarpon and Permit have still been plentiful inshore. Shrimp boat trash or threadfin herring are the bait of choice for Tarpon. When Permit fishing nothing beats a live crab.

Schools of smaller mahi mahi are very common right now
The weather has been nice and calm lately here in Key West. The fishing has been great as well. Offshore lots of nice size Mahi Mahi, Blackfin Tuna, and a few Sailfish. Reef fishing has produced a good amount of Mutton Snappers and Yellowtail Snapper. The Permit fishing has been red hot. The reefs and wrecks are the best place to find them.

Key West Shark Fishing
Strong east winds have been hanging around the keys for a few days now. However if you can handle the seas the offshore fishing has been as good as it gets. Sailfish, Black Fin Tuna, and Mahi Mahi have been caught in good numbers. Always live bait is the key to catching fish offshore. The Sailfish and Tuna have been in depths ranging from 100 to 180 feet of water. The Mahi Mahi have been in about 500 feet of water.
Inshore the shark fishing has been red hot. Capt. Tony Miller on the Coolwater caught 13 big sharks yesterday which included: Bull Sharks, Black Tips, and Lemon Sharks. There have been a few Tarpon and Permit around the Key West harbor as well.

Key West Tarpon Fishing
Spring is finally here and has produced some of the best fishing of this year. Offshore, we have been catching sailfish, mahi mahi, and blackfin tuna very consistently. There has been a beautiful color change from 130ft to 250ft of water and that has been the prime area to target these species. The key to catching these fish is using live bait. Threadfin herring and small blue runners are an excellent choice.
The reef fishing has been very plentiful as well with big yellowtail snappers, groupers, and mutton snappers. We anchor up on a school of fish, put chum out, and get the yellowtails to the surface. It has been alot of fun and produced some great table-fare.
Inshore fishing, the TARPON ARE HERE in big schools. We have been doing exceptionally well landing tarpon from 60-180lbs on a regular basis. The fishing should stay great in Key West through June. Come on down and join us for the trip of a lifetime!

Key West Sailfishing
April is the peak of the Sailfish migration, we went out yesterday on a 6 hr trip and released 3 sailfish. We have been setting up on the color change in 125 feet of water drifting live threadfin herring and a live blue runner on the opposite side of the boat from the kite. While looking for tailing sailfish we have been catching plenty of good eating fish such as mahi-mahi, tuna and cobia. We caught two tuna yesterday with the biggest weighing in at 26 pounds. The tarpon fishing is heating up with the air and water temperature, the tarpon should be in full swing by the end of April. Thank you

Key West Tarpon Fishing
May fishing is one of our best months in Key West Florida. Tarpon fishing in our Key West Harbor has been phenomenal, we are hooking plenty of Tarpon using dead and live bait. Permit our gathered up in large schools on our natural reef, we site fish for them using live crabs on a jig. Our snapper and grouper have been staging up on the rising of the full moon. We consistently catch plenty of yellowtail, mangrove and mutton snappers in the day or night. May is one of our best months for the larger migrating Dolphin fish, several fish in the 50+ lb range have been taken in the past few weeks. Thank you
