Key West tuna fishing trips, book online in advance of your trip. The boats for Key West tuna fishing are large and usually have a big cabin. The cabin offers a comfortable place to ride, with AC, cushioned seats, and beverages. Since Key West tuna fishing is done way offshore, in order to get to the deep water, you will appreciate the comfortable place to ride!
Tuna are strong sport fish, and the tackle is heavy. These are some of the most exciting fish to hook, because they seem to be made of pure muscle, and will run like the dickens to get away. The crew on the Key West tuna fishing charter you go with will help you gear up and instruct you if you need it, and get you to pull those bad boys up to the boat. Bring a camera, since you’ll want shots of these tuna- something to help you remember your awesome Key West tuna fishing excursion.

Key West Shark Fishing
Strong east winds have been hanging around the keys for a few days now. However if you can handle the seas the offshore fishing has been as good as it gets. Sailfish, Black Fin Tuna, and Mahi Mahi have been caught in good numbers. Always live bait is the key to catching fish offshore. The Sailfish and Tuna have been in depths ranging from 100 to 180 feet of water. The Mahi Mahi have been in about 500 feet of water.
Inshore the shark fishing has been red hot. Capt. Tony Miller on the Coolwater caught 13 big sharks yesterday which included: Bull Sharks, Black Tips, and Lemon Sharks. There have been a few Tarpon and Permit around the Key West harbor as well.

Although yellowfin tuna pass through the waters of Key West most of the Tuna fishing done is for Black Fin tuna. Most common method of fishing for black fin tuna would be trolling but other methods are used also. One other method would be jigging over one of the deep water wrecks that are south of Key West, this can be a very productive method of fishing. Fishing behind shrimp boats is also very popular but it is very seasonal and often requires long runs in the gulf. The shrimp boats dump their bycatch of small fish , crabs etc that are caught and killed while netting shrimp over the side and larger fish such as tuna come in to get the free meal.
