Coolcast, Capt. Bill Wallace
Our largest fishing boat, the Coolcast, is known as one of Key West's best fishing charter boats. Run by the expert Key West fishing captains, Captain Damon Santelli and Captain Chris Garcia, there is no other fishing trip quite like the one aboard the Coolcast. Both Damon and Chris have been fishing the waters off the coast of Key West for over fifteen years, knowing exactly where to go for all kinds of excursions and all varieties of fish species. They have a strong and dedicated clientele that have discovered the perks of fishing in Key West with such experienced and friendly charter captains. Calling ahead and booking a trip on the Coolcast well in advance is highly advised.
Some of the top trophy catches these captains can boast about include:
- 17 Tarpon released on just a half-day charter
- 13 Sailfish caught and released on the same day
- A 511-lb. King Mackerel caught in the SKA Tournament
- First place two years in a row in the Shell Classic tournament
- 1200 lbs of Yellowtail snapper caught in one day
- 21 permit released during the Key West Fishing Tournament
- An 84-lb. Cobia caught on 20-lb. test
Their accomplishments speak for themselves, but to truly see what these captains are all about you have to experience their fishing charters aboard the Coolcast. The Coolcast boat is a top-of-the-line 36-foot SeaVee center console that cuts through the waters smoothly and quickly. The boat provides on-board anglers plenty of comfortable seating and a largely proportioned T-Top for shade. Spacious and clean bathrooms are also available on board. Fishing electronics on board include TR-1 auto pilot, Ray marine 12-inch color fish finder, 2 VHF radios, 12-inch color Garmin chart plotter, a CD player and a cell phone. Everything you need for the most unforgettable Key West fishing experience is available on board the Coolcast with Captain Santelli and Captain Garcia.
Rates:
4 hours: $750.00 $700
6 hours: $850.00 $800
8 hours: $950.00 $900
RATES FOR GUIDES:
My rates are $650 for a half day and $900 for a full day. You might find a few guides at $600 for a half day, even less. Here in Key West guides are not hard to find, GOOD ONES are. There are many part-time guides with other jobs as their primary source of income. There are also hired captains who don't own the boat they are running. Basically, they're learning their way around the ocean on your dollar. My guess is that you'd want a guide that fishes FULL TIME and is on the water 4 or 5 days a week during season and knows where the fish are (or works very hard to find them). As I said a guide is not hard to find, GOOD ONES are. The old saying 'you get what you pay for' truly holds here. You'll find my rates are consistent with other top-notch guides in Key West.
