The past week has seen a lot of the species we have been catching the rest of the month – the tarpon fishing the mahi mahi, and even the sailfish. But one particular species of note this past week was the mutton snapper. The mutton snapper is many an angler's favorite fish to catch and to eat. They oftentimes put on an exciting fight, and their meat is one of the tastiest of the Keys' species. This time of the year we see a massive spawn of mutton snapper. This makes catching them easier than normal, both because of the species' elevated distraction but also because of the sheer abundance of them. Mutton snapper is one of those species that we can go after throughout the year, but these next week or so will continue with the abundance of mutton snapper. This will make mutton snapper one of the most sought after species, so take this opportunity to experience an exciting and highly rewarding Key West fishing adventure!
