KEY WEST FISHING REPORT - March 19th 2010
As the air and the water temperatures warm up here in Key West with the approach of springtime, the fishing is also beginning to heat up, whether it is in Key West Harbor for Tarpon, at the Reef for Snapper or sharks, at the color change of the Gulf Stream for Sailfish, Dorado, and Tuna, or following a shrimper into the Gulf to snag the Blackfin Tuna that accumulate behind the shrimp boats over the night.
Our captains have seen some great success fishing for mountable Tarpon in Key West Harbor and the channel, nabbing these great fighting fish at weights up to one hundred and twenty-five pounds. If you've been waiting for the arrival of Tarpon season, it's here, so come on down and join us for some bent rod action fishing for these monsters.
Now that the weather has turned for the better, conditions are uniquely suited for some excellent angling on the Atlantic side of the Keys. The Gulf Stream shifted to flowing near the reef to a depth of about one hundred and fifty feet. The pelagic fish, like Dorado, Sailfish, and Blackfins, have followed these currents.
Good anglin',
Captain Chris Garcia
