KEY WEST FISHING REPORT - May 7th 2010

We've had some idyllic weather in Key West of late. The great weather has gone hand in hand with exceptional angling. To the south of the Keys, the Dolphin Fish has really been picking up; we have finally seen some larger bulls (up to fifty lbs.) being caught at the color change. In addition to the increase in Dolphin at the Gulf Stream, the Sailfish migration is still going strong. Capt. Dan guided a party on board our charter vessel, the Outcast, to catch three of these billfish this morning.

I ventured north on the Coolcast from the harbor to hook some Permit around a wreck that sits at a depth of 35 ft. My anglers caught six Permit at this site: three using fly rods and three using light tackle rods with green crabs.

This week the weather is supposed to be great. So don't hesitate to book an off shore charter for Dolphin Fish or Sailfish or an inshore charter for Tarpon or Permit. Saturday, I'm guiding a Tuna fishing charter to follow a shrimp boat in the Gulf of Mexico.

Good anglin',

Captain Chris Garcia
