KEY WEST FISHING REPORT - July 17th 2010

We've continued to see great success on our excursions out to the Atlantic reef. The offshore fishing has been a bit slow, but light tackle angling has been red hot. The Mangrove Snapper spawn has been in full effect at the reef. Our charter clients have been catching their limit of these tasty game fish south of Key West at the reef. Our captains have been using cut Herring as bait to attract the Mangrove Snapper.

In Key West Harbor, the Tarpon have continued to run well this summer. If you have never been Tarpon fishing, you have been missing out. These large sport-fish, which can weigh over one hundred and thirty pounds, always put up an exhilarating battle once hooked.

You can also enjoy a light tackle excursion to one of the many wrecks in the area to fish for Snapper and Grouper. Lately, our parties have been nabbing plenty of large Amberjack at these wreck sites. We've been catching these excellent game fish on live Blue Runners or Threadfin Herring.

Good anglin',

Capt. Chris Garcia
