KEY WEST FISHING REPORT - July 24th 2010

Instead of a stormy Friday predicted by the national media outlets, we had a beautiful day down here in Key West. The fishing at the Atlantic reef as well as in Key West Harbor, the back country flats, and many wreck sites throughout the area continue to provide plenty of action for light tackle excursions. As a result of the erroneous weather reports, our charter booking were sparse on Friday, so two of our captains, Dan Smith on the Outcast and Bill Wallace on the Coolwater, decided to do some commercial fishing for Yellowtail Snapper. These fantastic game-fish continue to inundate the reef during their spawn. Our captains managed to haul in two hundred and fifty-four pounds of Yellowtail in one day.

The Tarpon fishing in the Key West harbor has continued to be as excellent as it has been all spring and summer. If you have never tried your hand at Tarpon fishing in Key West, you are missing out. These large and feisty sport-fish always put up a battle.

Good anglin',

Captain Chris Garcia
