KEY WEST FISHING REPORT - August 14th 2010

Good news for deep sea fishing enthusiasts because the Dolphin fish have been running in the deep waters south of Key West in six hundred to one thousand feet of water beneath floating debris. Captain Dan Smith led a charter on the Outcast that snagged three Mahi that tipped the scales at over twenty pounds apiece.

In closer in waters, at depths ranging from one hundred and eighty to three hundred feet, our captains have been setting up anglers with deep jigs and live bait at the deep rock ledges to catch Mutton Snapper, American Red Snapper, as well as Grouper.

Light tackle angling has continued to be excellent around Key West. The Tarpon fishing in Key West Harbor has continued to be red hot. The shark fishing in the back country flats has been great. Yellowtail Snapper and Mangrove Snapper have continued to spawn at the Atlantic reef.

Good anglin',

Capt. Damon Santelli
